The Entrepreneurship Development Council of the World Entrepreneurship Development Organisation (WeDO) serves as a strategic platform dedicated to fostering inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems worldwide. Established as a non-profit body, the Council undertakes in-depth analysis of development strategies, industrialization policies, global best practices, and implementation frameworks aimed at enabling catalytic entrepreneurship ecosystems, particularly in developing and underdeveloped countries, thereby contributing to the reduction of structural disparities with developed economies.
The Council is composed of volunteer professionals with extensive industry, policy, and entrepreneurial expertise. These members collectively guide the Council’s research, education, networking, and outreach initiatives, ensuring relevance to evolving global economic and business contexts. A core mandate of the Council is to generate evidence-based insights on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in entrepreneurship, while promoting innovation through targeted programmes and knowledge platforms.
Council members act as representatives and advocates for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs within their respective regions, serving as a conduit between grassroots enterprises and institutional stakeholders. With the approval of the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, members may establish local chapters to strengthen regional engagement. These chapters facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions, disseminate information on government schemes and policy initiatives, and promote collaboration and networking among enterprises to enhance enterprise growth, resilience, and competitiveness.
